How to download videos from websites (mainly YouTube)
This tutorial assumes you are using a Debian Linux distro. Youtube-dl is a python script that can be installed on any OS but the procedure will change.
Check out the youtube-dl man page for everything there is to know including installation. If you want to test if it works just run "$ youtube-dl <URL>" (by default downloads video to home folder). You may need to install additional packages like AtomicParsley or ffmpeg depending on your specific distro and what you're trying to do.

To create this gif tutorial of how I created the gif tutorial of the gif tutorial, I start off with a folder full of nice print screens I took throughout the process of creating the gif tutorial of the gif tutorial

Then I paste the same command as in step 2 of the previous tutorial, just changing the source path and output file name to suit my needs

The gif is ready and this tutorial is over

To create this gif tutorial of how I created the gif tutorial of the gif tutorial, I start off with a folder full of nice print screens I took throughout the process of creating the gif tutorial of the gif tutorial

To create the gif tutorial above I took several print screens during the process and put them in this folder /PlaylistDownload

Then I pasted the following command into the terminal $ convert -delay 200 -loop 0 ./PlaylistDownload/*.png PlaylistDownload.gif

Within a matter of an entire few seconds which seemed like days, the gif was complete and ready for upload

To create the gif tutorial above I took several print screens during the process and put them in this folder /PlaylistDownload

Paste the URLs of the videos or playlists you want to download into a text file and save it. For this tutorial I chose the Socialist Appeal Revolution Festival playlists of 2018 and 2019 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzIctqUQHdO6zmUjYE0YnP7Wah8PRwuRV - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzIctqUQHdO4ya_d_2RyHaWScBf_fU3ox

In this example I saved the text file as DownloadList in the home folder, but you will have to replace the <text_file_path> and <destination_file_path> with your own. The default destination folder is whichever folder the terminal is cd'd to. Paste into the terminal $ youtube-dl --add-metadata --embed-thumbnail -a <Text_file_path> -o <destination file path>

Finally there they all are. All 15 videos of the 2018 Revolution Festival in London hosted by Socialist Appeal (I put the 4 videos released to date from the 2019 revolution festival into their own folder)

Paste the URLs of the videos or playlists you want to download into a text file and save it.
